We have an easy way add social media links for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and Vimeo to your Website Builder. To add these social links, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click on and drag the "Social" icon to the place you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it on the page, it defaults to showing the icons for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+. You can add or remove icons and add links by clicking on any icon. You will see a place to type in the links to your social pages. Please note that you will need to put in the full link (for example, http://www.facebook.com/dynadot). To add or remove an icon, simply select or cancel the icon you want to add on the left. You will need to hit the "Save" button at the top of the website builder to fully save your changes. Please note that if you do not add a link to an icon that is showing on the edit screen, it will not show on your published website. To move your social icons, hover over the box and use the "Move" icon that appears in the top-right corner to drag it to a new location.To remove your social icons altogether, hover over the box and use the "Trash" icon that appears in the top-right corner.
Image alt text has a couple of uses. Basically, it's an opportunity to put into words what the image is and it's function on the page. This is helpful to both users and to Google and other search engines, which is why we have added an easy way to enter image alt text for images on our website builder.From a user standpoint, alt text is what shows in place of an image if they have images turned off on their web browser or are unable to see images for any other reason.For Google and other search engines, it helps them index the image, so it can be found based on the keywords you use in your image alt text. However, keep in mind that alt text best practices should mean that you're using relevant keywords to what is actually in the image and it's purpose on your website.If you would like more information about image alt text and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices, we doing some research online as there are many great resources out there.
To add an image to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the Website Builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click and drag the "Image" icon to the section you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it, the "Image Settings" box will pop up. Click on "Add Image". Click on "From My Computer" to upload an image from your computer, or click on "From My Library" to select an image from your Website Builder's library. It is optional to enter "Alt Text" for your image. The image alt text is used by search engines to help them figure out what the image is about, so it can be appropriately ranked. It is also used in place of the image if it does not load properly on the page. Click on the "Settings" tab to add alt text for your image. You also have the option to enter a "Link" for your image under the "Settings" tab. Click on the "Save" button. Your image will appear where you added it on the page. Click on the "Save" button at the top-right of the page to save all your changes. Once your image appears on your Website Builder, you can edit by following these steps: To replace the image, enter new or different image alt text, or enter a new or different link, click on the "Settings" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the image. To remove the image, click on the "Trash" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the image. To center or justify the image to the right or left, click on the toggles that appear on the top-left corner of the image. To move the image, simply drag and drop the image to a new location. To add more text to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click and drag the "Text" icon to the section you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it and clicked in the box to type, some text options will appear above your text box. Please note that you will need to click on the "Design" icon to set the font, color, size and more for your content. Click on the "Save" button at the top right of the page to save all your changes. To add a contact form to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click on and drag the "Contact" icon to the place you want it to appear on the page. To move your text box, click out of it if your cursor is blinking, then hover over the box and use the "Move" icon that appears in the top-left corner of the text box to drag it to a new location. To remove the text box, click out of it if your cursor is blinking, then hover over the box and use the "Trash" icon that appears in the top-left corner. To save your changes, click on the "Save" button at the top right of the page. Once you have successfully added your contact form, you should set the email address for your contact form, so you can receive messages at the email address of your choice. Please note that if you do not set a specific email, contact form messages will be sent to your Dynadot account email.The contact form asks for first and last name, email, and message. To add a line break to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click on and drag the "Line" icon to the place you want it to appear on the page. To move your text box, click out of it if your cursor is blinking, then hover over the box and use the "Move" icon that appears in the top-left corner of the text box to drag it to a new location. To remove the text box, click out of it if your cursor is blinking, then hover over the box and use the "Trash" icon that appears in the top-left corner. To add an audio or music file to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click on and drag the "Audio" icon to the place you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it, the "Audio Settings" box will pop-up. Click on "Upload File" to upload a mp3, wav, or m4a file from your computer. The maximum file size is 10 MB. You must enter the "Title" and the "Author/Artist" to successfully save the file. Click on the"Save" button. Your audio file will appear where you added it on the page. Click on the "Save" button at the top right-hand side of the page. Once your audio file appears on your Website Builder, you can edit by following these steps: To replace the audio file, change the track title, or change the track artist, click on the settings icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the file. To move the audio file, click on the "Move" icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the file. To add a downloadable file to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the Website Builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click and drag the "File" icon to the section you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it, the "File Settings" box will pop up. Click on "Upload file" button and select one file from your computer. You can now edit the name you'd like to give your file by 'File Name'. If this is left blank the file name would default to the same name it uses on your computer. You can have the file name hidden by unchecking the 'Show File Name' option. Clicking 'Position' will allow you to align the file to the left, right or center of your page, and you can also hide the file icon by unchecking the 'File Icon' option. Click on the "Save" button at the top-right of the page to save all your changes. Once your file appears on your Website Builder, you can edit by following these steps: To replace the file, edit it's name, re-align the file, or hide/unhide it's name or icon, click on the "Settings" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the file. To remove the file, click on the "Trash" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the file. To move the file, drag and drop the 'Move' icon (between the trash and settings icons) to a new location.
To add video to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click and drag the "Video" icon to the section you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it, the "Video Settings" box will pop-up. Paste the URL of the video you would like to embed. You can also choose to upload a custom thumbnail of the video if you want (it will need to be uploaded in as an image file). Click on the "Save" button. Your video will appear where you added it on the page. Click on the "Save" button at the top-right of the page to save all your changes. NOTE: We only support YouTube and Vimeo videos at this time.Once your video appears on your Website Builder, you can edit it by following these steps: To replace the video or change your video's custom thumbnail, click on the "Settings" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the video. To move the video, click on the "Move" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the video. To remove the video, click on the "Trash" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the video. Our Website Builder allows you to easily add a gallery of your Instagram images. To add your Instagram images, please follow these instructions: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "Edit Site" button next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Website Builder" option, followed by the "Tools" option on the left-hand tool bar. Click and drag the "Instagram" icon to the section you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it, an "Instagram" box will pop up. If you already have your Instagram account connected, you can select it from the drop down. Otherwise select "Add account" from the drop down. You can use the slider to select the number of images, between 1-20, that you'd like to show. You can also adjust the design under the "Design" tab where you can choose to see the images show in a slideshow, carousel, grid, or stacked. Each of these options also have their own settings that will show below as you select them. When you're done, click on the "Save" button. If you selected "Add Account," you should get a prompt confirming that you want to add an account. If you're logged into Instagram on your computer, it will automatically connect. Otherwise, once you hit "Okay," you will see a popup to log into Instagram. You can also add a gallery of images that you can upload or simply link to your Instagram page by adding social icons.
