After a domain expires and passes its renewal grace period and redemption period, the domain is "dropped" or re-released to the public for registration. Before it's re-released, you can use a drop catch or backorder service to place a request to register the dropping domain. Then, the backorder service will attempt to register the domain for you as soon as it drops. Most domains are dropped from the central registry 75 days after their expiration date.
If a domain receives one or more backorder requests, our drops system will try to catch it for you. If we're successful and you were the only backorder request, an order will be created for you and the domain will be placed into your account after the order is completed. If there are multiple backorder requests, there will be a backorder auction for the domain.
To place a domain backorder request with us, the following is required:
Minimum payment/balance amount is $5 USD, or its equivalent. While conversion rates do fluctuate, that will be around 4.25 Euros, 35 RMB, 6.25 CAD, 100 MXN, or 3.75 GBP. These currencies cannot be combined.
